I started playing Forza games with FH2 and since then I have realized that to me the game is worth having everything even if I dont get around to playing it all.
With a RWD car, the front wheels steer or brake and that's it. The front wheels can use all their available grip for turning the car. If you're also putting power through those wheels you're now splitting up that grip between two tasks. AWD cars are also more understeery relative to RWD cars which can rotate faster.
Awd gives improved line start and handling. Rwd gives significantly higher top speed and a bit less weight which can give your downforce more effect in some situations. However the way the game is tuned it is rare that cars will be flat out, and common that cars will be cornering, favors AWD. As for the artifical intelligence behind the wheel of the non-human racers, Forza Horizon 5 does a better job. Okay, so the AI rarely crashes or pulls into a drive-thru for a coffee. And at unbeatable (the daddy of difficulty levels) it is annoyingly consistent at braking and steering.
